Environmental Policy and Commitment
The SRMHC Charitable Trust has a fundamental commitment to the environment and a belief that we are all custodians of the environment we have been given to live in, having a responsibility and share an accountability.
The SRMHC Charitable Trust encourages all volunteers to consider the protection of the environment and all resources as a pre-requisite before undertaking any task in connection with the Centre’s work and also to consider this in their home and leisure pursuits. Within any of our training courses the same principle applies and we train others to pass this on to their students.
We undertake to reduce our environmental impact by:
- Minimising pollution to air, water and land
- Reducing waste, water and energy use throughout all our actions
- Conserving natural resources by purchasing environmentally friendly products
- Recycling waste and disposing correctly of waste we are unable to recycle
- Recycling goods no longer required by us and using recycled goods whenever possible
- Energy care in every aspect: people, goods, resources and materials
- Having a programme of monitoring and improving our environmental performance
- Complying with and endeavouring to exceed the requirements of all legislation
- Assessing the impact of all operations on the environment
- Working with all we come into contact with to improve greater environmental awareness and wiser custodianship of resources available
- Educating and training all employees, volunteers and students in environmental issues
- Maintaining good relationships within the local community and sharing resources
- Ensuring that the environmental impact is considered whenever any new project or change is considered
- An annual review in addition to weekly reviews
